You might have noticed a new vinyl sign over the doorway of what used to be New York Chicken and Fish (which used to be New York Pizza Garden). This location is just off 37 and 126 in Fishers. It appears we have a new owner and entire new business and not just one of those quick business name changes.
The Instagram account says Italian owned and when you go to the website it's immediately obvious that this isn't a chicken and fish place with a fancy name, it's a completely new pizza place in Fishers with an enticing menu, including pizzas like Quattro Formaggi, Parmigiana, and a classic Margherita.
Chris and I tried it out last night with a carry out order. The interior has also been overhauled but it's still a sort of smallish dining area. The employee working the front was super friendly and made conversation in addition to ringing us out quickly.
The pizzas only come in one size, 12 inches. I got the Margherita, which has San Marzano tomato sauce with fresh mozzarella and basil. Chris got a pepperoni pizza just to test how they do executing the basics. Even after a short car ride our pizzas were hot and gorgeous looking.
The sauce was not too acidic, somewhat minimally seasoned but still rich. The cheese was excellent evenly melted and stretchy. The crust was thin but not crisp, foldable with a wheaty flavor and pleasant charred bits. It was a bit on the chewy side compared to the extremely light pillowy Neapolitan style I prefer but still far more refined than you'll find at a national chain. To me the crust tasted similar to I Tre Mori if you've ever had that as a reference.
I will definitely be back, I have my eye on the Amanti Della Carne as the next one I want to try. This was our 114th pizza place we've visited in Indiana. We're adding them to our growing Indy Pizza Map, check it out!
